Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings from!

Aspires to continue to evolve as a discourse community devoted to exploring and examining knowledge per se. It is, hence, imperative that we keep pushing the envelope pertaining to the ideas we celebrate, the operational methodology we employ, and the diversity of discourse avenues we open up. Essaying further in the same direction, we have envisaged a score of newer ways in which will operate. While the different sessions of follow different formats, it has been the tradition at to organize special talks by eminent scholars from diverse knowledge domains. In sync with this tradition, it is our sheer pleasure to invite you to the Special Discourse, on ‘Gandhi’s Approach to His World’ by Mr. Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of the Mahatma and Founder President of Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, India. As the second decade of the 21st century is rife with conflicts, protests and uprisings, it is profoundly significant to deliberate as to, what would have been Gandhi’s response to such a world? The reason why Gandhi is to be revisited is that Gandhi’s responses to his world form the crux of being Gandhi and what we can learn from him. He did not imitate or withdraw. He neither got carried away by fashionable ideas of his day nor remained inflexible in his ideas. Significantly enough, he weighed each idea of his day against the cherished tenets in history and particularly, Indian culture and heritage. For the unprecedented problems and challenges of his times, he formulated unique responses. More than ever before, in the present era of subtle intellectual deceptions by world forces and duping of the masses in the name of apparently nice things, Gandhi’s approach to his world is the site of lessons to be learnt-to be sceptical, to be watchful, to be faithful, not to religion but reason, not to politics but intellectual purity of ideas-political or non-political, to be alive to the possibility of redefining the terms of the world he lived in. It is these qualities that make him infinitely valuable to us, our times. But we shall not benefit from his insights, unless we fully comprehend Gandhi’s Approach to His World...
